NEW HAVEN, CONN. - Up And Running, a New Haven firm that installs extrusion equipment, has introduced a new tool to help processors visualize equipment layouts in their own plants. A computer simulation program called Preview allows a pro-cessor to view new equipment from any perspective and any configuration. Once rendered, a videotape can allow a processor to ``walk around'' purchased equipment as if it had already been installed.
A processor can manipulate equipment arrangements on a computer and download data into a computer-aided design system like Auto-Cad.
``The benefit is that the processor will know, before the equipment arrives at the plant, exactly how it will fit in his building, how it will look from operators, maintenance personnel and management trying to optimize work layout and work flow,'' said Walter Cornell, president of Up And Running.
In the near future, the programs will be animated, allowing the processor to see the equipment as if it were actually running.
Up And Running's primary business is turnkey extrusion installations.
