BRATTLEBORO, VT. - The Northeast Recycling Council has issued a series of new reports detailing financial information on recycling firms. The reports, compiled from surveys of 28 plastic reclaimers, composters and paper stock dealers in the northeastern states, show sources of funding they have used to expand and continue their businesses.
The reports, financed by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's New England Regional Office, provide information on about 45 completed deals totaling $14.5 million, and include financial statistics and industry overviews of special financing issues in the recycling industry.
An affiliate of the Washington-based Council of State Governments, the Brattleboro-based NERC membership includes state recycling organizations, solid-waste officials and legislators from Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Vermont.
Its purpose is to promote the viability of recycling and environmental efforts in the region.
