SALT LAKE CITY - Huntsman Corp. announced Sept. 30 that it will increase by 17 percent the design capacity of its proposed ethylene production facility. Huntsman announced in April it would build a 1.5 billion pound ethylene production facility by the end of 1999.
That facility now will have the capacity to produce 1.75 billion pounds of ethylene a year, the company said.
Construction is to begin in the fourth quarter of this year. The Salt Lake City company is considering its Port Arthur, Texas, site as the location for the new plant. Huntsman is building the facility as a joint venture with Enron Liquid Services Corp., a wholly owned subsidiary of Enron Corp. of Houston.n*GenCorp's Specialty Polymers Division of Fairlawn, Ohio, has acquired the Lytron polystyrene latex plastic pigment business from Morton International of Chicago. Terms were not disclosed. Lytron plastic pigments made in Greenville, S.C., are used primarily in paper and paperboard coatings.
