SARASOTA, FLA. — CADmold Group, an injection mold maker and custom molder in Sarasota, plans to add 12,000 square feet to its facility and double its number of injection molding machines to 12. Michael W. Britt, vice president of engineering for the family-owned firm, said the addition will give the company a total of 28,000 square feet of space, and allow it to expand the molding operation by six presses.
CADmold plans to buy Toshiba presses in a variety of sizes up to about 310 tons of clamping force. Currently, the company's six Toshiba presses have 60-250 tons of clamping force.
Britt said CADmold also has seven Pro/Engineer and Pro/Manufacturing workstations for mold design and production.
Customers ``are seeking us out because we can turn around complex, multicavity molds quickly,'' said Britt, who told of one four-cavity mold for a complex housing that was delivered in four weeks, two weeks less than the quoted delivery time.
CADmold employs 60 and serves a variety of markets such as the toy, electronics and consumer products industries.
