VIENNA, AUSTRIA — More than 500 people celebrated the Associ-ation of Rotational Molders 20th anniversary at the group's fall meeting Oct. 20-22 in Vienna. ARM, based in Oak Brook, Ill., said final attendance was 509 people from 38 countries.
Among the award winners are:
Pawnee Rotational Molding Co. of Maple Plain, Minn., which won the innovative state-of-the-art category for its Breuer/ Tornado Marathon Carpet Cleaner. The product has 34 inserts that make assembly easy. An integral frame supports the unit. Pawnee molds in graphics.
Pawnee also won in the large product category for the Mercury Marine Quicksilver Inflatable Rhino Boat with a double-wall hull and 37 molded-in inserts used for attaching an inflatable tube.
Roto Plastics Corp. of Adrian, Mich., which took the PVC award for its Trim Caps entry, used to provide a cushion between roof supports and the body of the Trans-2 personal vehicle. The PVC part replaced a solid, cast urethane component.
Team Poly Pty. Ltd. of Lonsdale, Australia, which won both the conversion award and the product-of-the-year award for plastic bars to protect against kangaroo collisions. The 5-year-old firm molds the black Poly Bull Bars that fit over the front of a vehicle. The original steel and aluminum version raised concerns over the effect on a car's crumple zone.
ARM also named officers to its board of directors.
The current board elected officers. Carl Johnson, president of Durus Industries Inc. of Bend, Ore., was elected ARM president; Thomas Niland, president of Niland Co. of El Paso, Texas, was named vice president; and Pat-rick Long, president of Formed Plastics Inc. of Carle Place, N.Y., was elected secretary/treasurer.
