VISTA, CALIF. — Quadrax Corp. this month began shipping thermoplastic golf shafts from the Vista facility of its newly formed golf division. The firm named Michael E. Buck as Quadrax Golf's vice president and general manager.The d ivision takes charge of a 10,000-square-foot development center and production line located near the operations of major golf equipment manufacturers.Buck joined Quadrax in April as vice president of sales and marketing for the adv anced materials division. Previously, he was director of sports technology for Textron Inc.'s specialty materials division.Golfsmith International Inc. was named the exclusive distributor of the shafts to the custom club market. In itially, Golfsmith will introduce two of the trademarked Thermo-Plastic shafts for golf club woods in its new catalogs.Quadrax continues work on a product development contract with Taylor Made Golf Co. of Carlsbad, Calif.Quadrax re ported a loss of $1.9 million on sales of $747,000 for the quarter ending Sept. 30.
