LAPEER, MICH. — Ford Motor Co. has selected Durakon Industries Inc. as its exclusive supplier of pickup truck bedliners sold in the United States and Canada.
Duraliner thermoformed high density polyethylene liners will be offered as a dealer-installed accessory beginning the first quarter of 1997.
The company, which makes the bedliners at its Lapeer plant, also is the exclusive bedliner supplier for Nissan Motor Corp. U.S.A. and Mazda Motor Corp. Terms of the Ford contract were not disclosed. A similar contract with Nissan, awarded in December 1995, was worth an estimated $2.5 million.
Durakon did not say if capacity will be added, and said contract details were being worked out.
The company recorded $75 million in thermoforming sales during 1996, according to Plastics News rankings.
