AKRON, OHIO — Plastics News has a new staff reporter in Washington.
Steve Toloken joins the newspaper Jan. 27, working from Crain Communications Inc.'s office in the National Press Building in Washington. As the East Coast staff reporter, Toloken will be responsible for legislative and regulatory matters, trade, site selection and development issues, trade associations, the medical beat, and some coverage of other industry sectors.
He replaces Roger King, who left Plastics News to work at a Washington-area trade association.
Toloken, 28, has about five years of experience reporting for daily newsletters. He most recently was assistant editor of Warren Publishing Co.'s Washington Telecom Newswire and its sister publication, Communications Daily. Prior to that he was a staff reporter for the Daily Press newspaper in Newport News, Va.
Toloken also worked as a full-time freelance stringer for the Chicago Tribune, and prior to that for the Daily Herald in Arlington Heights, Ill., and as an intern in the Chicago Tribune's Washington bureau.
