Five years ago this week in Plastics News:
Johnson Controls Inc. extended its PET bottle operations to Britain by buying PET preform molder Pacplas Ltd. of Wales.
Assets of a pioneer in plastic lumber production, Superwood Ontario Ltd., were put up for sale. The Toronto firm's woes included difficulty marketing benches to municipalities and alleged cancellation of a deal to supply products to McDonald's Restaurants of Canada.
Otto Industries Inc. installed the second half of a 6,000-ton injection press used to mold refuse containers at its Charlotte, N.C., plant. (In late 1996 the firm decided to phase out most of Charlotte's manufacturing and farm out the work to Arkay Industries Inc. of Miamisburg, Ohio.)
