KALAMAZOO, MICH. — Total Plastics Inc. has expanded its plastics distribution and fabrication business Feb. 7 by acquiring ASN Plastics Inc. of Indianapolis.
Total President John Kozacki said the purchase boosts his Kalamazoo-based firm's presence in the Midwest and adds vacuum forming, engraving and heat-shrinkable tubing to its services. ASN has two vacuum formers, but Total will expand that part of the ASN business, Kozacki said.
Officials did not disclose ASN or Total's sales and said terms of the deal were confidential.
William O'Leary, former ASN president and one of its four previous owners, will continue as manager of the Indianapolis operation, which will assume the Total name. It is Total's sixth location, all of which are in Michigan, Indiana and Illinois.
ASN is Total's second acquisition since it was bought by A.M. Castle & Co. of Franklin Park, Ill., in late 1995. Total bought Pontiac Plastics & Supply of Auburn Hills, Mich., in March. Castle trades on the American Stock Exchange and distributes a range of engineered metals.
