AKRON, OHIO — Craig Urey has joined Plastics News as a staff reporter in the Akron office. His hiring will allow some changes in reporters' beat assignments.
Urey will cover building and construction, thermoset resin pricing and labor unions. He joined the newspaper on Feb. 11. As a result of the addition, senior reporter Bill Bregar — who previously covered the construction industry — will devote more time to the plastics machinery beat.
Urey, 34, is finishing his master's degree in journalism at Kent State University. He had worked at the Record-Courier in Ravenna, Ohio, from 1993-96, most recently as news editor of that daily newspaper.
Urey is a native of Selinsgrove, Pa., and he has a bachelor's degree in history from Susquehanna University.
Urey takes the position vacated last month by copy editor Steve Kovach, who became a copy editor/reporter at Crain's Cleveland Business, a sister publication to Plastics News. Kovach had been responsible for thermoset resin pricing.
Lisa Sarkis Neaville, who had been a general-assignment reporter, will take over Kovach's copy editing responsibilities.
