LOS ANGELES — Seda Specialty Packaging Corp. of Los Angeles began production of flexible polyethylene tubes for personal-care, pharmaceutical and other markets at its Plattsburgh, N.Y., facility in late January.
Seda makes plastic tubes at its Los Angeles plant but installed a production line at Plattsburgh to provide better service to eastern U.S. customers, the firm said in a Feb. 3 news release.
Ronald Johnson, the firm's vice president of finance, said Seda plans to install a second tube extrusion line at Plattsburgh in the summer and might add another line by the end of the year if demand warrants.
Johnson did not disclose cost of the program, which included adding tube decorating equipment.
AISA Automation Industrielle SA of Vouvry, Switzerland, supplied the extrusion and related equipment. Seda's Los Angeles plant operates nine tube extrusion lines.
