DTM expands line of prototyping materials
DTM Corp. added two resins to its line of rapid prototyping materials used in Sinterstation. It will begin distributing them in the second quarter of this year.
DTM said DuPont Somos 201 is an elastomer that produces functional, rubberlike parts for gaskets, moldings, seals and other applications.
It is DuPont's first SLS selective laser sintering material and was developed by DuPont's Somos Solid Imaging Materials unit.
Initial markets include automotive, medical, sports equipment and toys.
The second new material, VeriForm Polymer, improves on DTM's nylons. It retains their toughness and strength but also offers improved surface finish, fine feature definition and powder recyclability. Austin, Texas-based DTM claims it gives parts surface characteristics similar to injection molding.

VID-O system drains cooling, heating fluid
A simple swing of a lever drains mold cooling or heating water and fluids from flow regulators using the VID-O mold-purging system from Plastic Process Equipment Inc. of Macedonia, Ohio.
Pressured air clears the water out in seconds, so no water is spilled during mold changes. Molds remain dry in storage.
The base price is $750.
