SµO PAULO, BRAZIL — A growing market in Brazil for residential potable water tanks helped Wilmington Machinery land a sale at Brasilplast '97.
The company sold a 750-ton, wide-platen structural foam molding machine to Unipac Industria e Comercia Ltda., a molder in Pompéia, Brazil, said Kemp Shepard, Wilmington's vice president of marketing.
Unipac is converting its method of manufacturing water tanks from thermoforming to structural foam, Shepard said. Brazil ians favor separate systems for drinking water and water for washing. Trucks come around to fill the potable water tanks.
Unipac, which had its own exhibit at Brasilplast, also will use the press to mold pallets and collapsible boxes.
It marked Wilmington's first sale in Brazil.
