NEWTOWN, PA.—Chemical Group Inc. has expanded into dry blending of vinyl additives, and eventually might extend its new operation to include wet blending if demand warrants.
The Newtown-based firm started additives blending in a leased, 25,000-square-foot facility in Philadelphia in February, according to Fred Yorg, Chemical Group president. It mainly mixes nonlead, mixed-metal PVC stabilizers with lubricants, stearates and flame retardants, such as antimony trioxide.
Chemical Group continues to buy and resell lead stabilizers for markets such as wire and cable jacketing. Market growth convinced the firm to make its own nonlead additive mixtures, Yorg said.
