Five years ago this week in Plastics News:
Scott Paper Co. merged its polystyrene foam and thermoformed cups business with Winkler Products Inc., a producer of PS and polypropylene cutlery and PP straws, creating a company later called Benchmark Corp. (In 1995, James River Corp. and Benchmark merged their PS cup businesses while James River bought Benchmark's plastic cutlery business. Benchmark changed its name to Radnor Corp. and recently bought out James River's minority interest in the PS cup business.)
HPM Corp. became the first U.S. injection molding machinery supplier to offer gas-assisted technology as an equipment option. HPM established a licensing agreement with Gain Technologies Inc.
