DONCASTER, ENGLAND — British building materials maker Polypipe plc., which is boosting its window profiles capacity, also is expanding its core pipes and fittings business with a new purchase.
The Doncaster company said it has purchased B&H (Loughborough) Ltd., in a cash deal worth £5.5 million ($8.9 million).
B&H of Loughborough, England, made pre-tax profit of about £800,000 ($1.29 million) for the year ended March 31 on sales of £19.7 million ($31.9 million).
B&H makes polyethylene, polypropylene and PVC pipe and fittings. Products include twin-wall road drainage pipe, cable TV ducting, PVC general purpose ducting, road gulleys and land drainage.
``This acquisition provides us with another highly respected company in the civil engineering sector,'' said Polypipe Chairman, Kevin McDonald.
Polypipe reported sales of £208.7 million ($338 million) and pre-tax profit of £28.5 million ($46.17 million) in 1996.
