ST. JEROME, QUEBEC — Bauer Inc. said it is too early to know if it will need more molding machinery when it consolidates Canadian ice and in-line skate production at St. Jerome by the end of 1998.
St. Jerome does all of Bauer's injection molding and thermoforming and is its development center. The facility will mold both ice and in-line skates.
Bauer will close its Cambridge, Ontario, plant that makes stitched-construction skates and move some production to St. Jerome and some to outside vendors.
Bauer spokeswoman Jennifer Damiani said her firm does not intend to work with vendors to parent company Nike Inc. of Beaverton, Ore.
