DERBY, ENGLAND — In 1996, North and South America accounted for 26 percent of the world's output of polyester film, and 30 percent of the world's consumption, according to a study by PET Packaging, Resin & Recycling Ltd. of Derby.
The U.S. market accounted for 90 percent of that demand and 97 percent of the region's production capacity, the report said. Polyester film supply and demand in the region will remain fairly balanced through the decade, with packaging providing the strongest volume growth.
``The Americas Regional Supply/Demand Report—Polyester Films,'' costs $4,500.
