CHICAGO — A hot-runner manifold and interlocks to line up mold halves are among products introduced by D-M-E Co. (Booth S1447).
D-M-E, a unit of Cincinnati Milacron Inc., makes standard mold bases and other mold components for injection molding.
D-M-E's Flow Mate Manifold System for hot-runner systems comes in two shapes: an ``X'' pattern for four-drop applications and an ``I'' pattern for two-drop applications. Each size has a minimum and maximum dimension for spacing between drop locations. Standard 92-millimeter-long flow plugs allow a machinist to cut them to the designed length.
Flow Mate also comes pre-manufactured, complete with heaters, end plugs and set screws. The manifold is designed to work with D-M-E's standard thermocouples and nozzle seat, and spaces for easy installation.
Parting Line Interlocks are available in four male interlock widths. As the mold closes, the male portion on the moving half of the mold engages into corresponding gibs on the stationary half. D-M-E's X-Style Straight Side Interlocks, used in stripper-style mold bases, provide alignment between cavities, cores and stripper plates.
The company also is showing Performance Sprue Bushings that combine stainless steel, in the hard nozzle seat base, and a copper-based alloy beneath the nozzle seat.
A Multi-Data Insert lets molders add marking information to molds. A FrontRemovable Mold Dating Insert Tool can be removed easily from the parting line of the mold. An inner insert can be removed by unscrewing from the outer insert ring.
D-M-E also is offering a portable welder, the Pro Weld, that uses electrical pulses and low temperatures to repair mold cavities and cores.
