CHICAGO—Plastic lumber company Trex Co. (Booth N4441) of Winchester, Va., is on a quest for polyethylene film at NPE in Chicago. ``We are probably one of the very few exhibitors at the NPE who is not selling anything,'' Mike Vatuna, director of materials, said in a news release.
The firm is seeking to procure post-consumer PE stretch film, a major ingredient in its Easy Care Decking product. The plastic lumber firm's booth is made partially from its decking.
Once it has located a firm with excess stretch film, Trex buys the film and hauls it to its plant. Stretch film, pallet wrap and recycled grocery bags all can be used in the lumber. Trex claims to be the largest U.S. consumer of reclaimed PE film; it expects to use more than 50 million pounds this year.
