CHICAGO — Sencorp Systems Inc., a member of DT Industries Packaging Group, has formed a new alliance with R.I.G.O. Group of Milan, Italy, extending their relationship. Under the agreement announced June 16, R.I.G.O. will receive an exclusive licensing deal to manufacture a Sencorp high-speed, roll-fed thermoformer for the European market at its new, 70,000-square-foot plant near Milan. The Sencorp Series HP 1000 trim-in-place machine serves the refrigeration market.
Hyannis, Mass.-based Sencorp (Booth N5116) has manufactured R.I.G.O. equipment in the United States since 1994 under a licensing agreement. The R.I.G.O. machine also makes refrigerator door and food compartment liners.
``This alliance will enhance Sencorp's ability to further penetrate the European market,'' said Anthony Giovannone, president of Sencorp.
R.I.G.O.'s new plant, though not built specifically for the new Sencorp capacity, is double the size of its existing plant, Giovannone said. With the licensing agreement in 1994, R.I.G.O. — primarily a cut sheet thermoforming equipment maker — entered the roll-fed thermoforming market.
The most recent deal between the companies allows Sencorp to undergo the same process. Primarily a roll-fed equipment manufacturer, it is penetrating the cut sheet market.
Sencorp currently exports about 40 percent of its machines.
From 1970-1994, Sencorp imported R.I.G.O. machines. DT Industries acquired Sencorp in 1994. The R.I.G.O. thermoforming machine is an in-line configuration that processes ABS or high-impact polystyrene sheet.
R.I.G.O. is a worldwide supplier of thermoformed refrigerator components and also makes tooling.
Sencorp also builds foam extrusion systems for expanded PS and expanded polyethylene extrusion. DT Industries is in Springfield, Mo.
