CHICAGO—Sandretto Plastics Machinery Inc. is emphasizing speed at NPE (Booth S2190) in Chicago. Sandretto is showing a high-speed, thin-wall packaging machine and a press with an electric screw drive.
Sandretto Plastics Machinery, the U.S. subsidiary of Sandretto Industrie srl of Turin, Italy, is displaying a total of five machines—its largest-ever trade show exhibition — at its own booth and at the exhibit of CAE Services/EPM Sales (Booth S739). A Micro 30 press is molding a coaster at the CAE booth.
Earlier this year, Cannon Group (Booth N4863), a Trezzano, Italy-based firm that supplies polyurethane processing equipment, thermoformers and other plastics machinery, bought Sandretto.
At Sandretto's main booth, a 220-ton Mach III is running a thin-wall pedestal cup on a four-cavity mold. The cup has a wall section only 0.018 inches thick. Cycle time is four seconds. Speed is enhanced by servo-valve hydraulics. The clamp moves 59 inches per second. Linear injection rate is 39.4 inches per second. Peripheral screw speed clocks in at 39.4 inches per second. The ejector moves at 25.6 inches a second.
Clamping forces for the high-speed Mach III Series range from 125-420 tons.
Sandretto also is introducing the Mega TE, a standard Mega T fitted with an electric screw motor drive, a brushless alternating current motor. Electric screw drive allows overlap of the screw and molding cycles, and high torque output. Mega TE clamping forces range from 550-1,300 tons.
Sandretto also is featuring a 550-ton Mega TE molding a 12-ounce high density polyethylene container with a 0.023-inch wall section on a 16-cavity stack mold every seven seconds.
