CHICAGO—PH Group Inc.'s Trueblood division, which makes vertical insert molding machines, has acquired St. Lawrence Press. Terms of the April 29 deal were not disclosed.
St. Lawrence Press makes very large compression molding machines, with clamping forces that exceed 3,000 tons, to process sheet and bulk molding compounds. It has 25,000 square feet of manufacturing space in Romulus, Mich., giving Columbus, Ohio-based Trueblood more than 40,000 square feet total.
St. Lawrence Press becomes the third division of PH Group.
The PH Hydraulics division of PH Group, which produces mainly hydraulic presses for metal-stamping, has made some compression molding machines for the plastics industry, and some reaction injection molding presses.
``We have built compression molding machines in the past. This acquisition allows us to build much bigger machines,'' Robert Thompson, Trueblood national sales manager, said at NPE in Chicago.
