CHICAGO — Cyclical mold temperature-control maker R.E. Promotion Services Ltd., known as Reps, of Cannock, England, introduced a multizone mold heater at NPE 1997 in Chicago.
``Our mold temperature control used pulsed cooling and heating,'' said Scott Ludwig, Reps director of sales and marketing in the firm's Gloucester, Mass., regional office.
The mold hot-water heater has as many as seven zones, including four pulse cooling zones and a fifth with hot water circulating around noncritical parts of the mold.
Rowland Evans, a representative in Cannock, said the new heater can replace conventional circulating systems.
``Most are good at heating up but poor at cooling,'' Evans said.
The heater is suitable for mold temperature ranges of 60-200° F. The unit costs from $5,000-$14,000 depending on features.
