LA MIRADA, CALIF. — PlasCor Inc. beefed up its injection blow molding equipment lineup earlier this year, and now plans to add extrusion blow molding equipment.
The La Mirada company purchased a used injection blow molding machine in January for about $100,000. It has three extrusion and four injection molding machines.
To increase efficiency, the company now runs 24 hours a day and seven days a week.
The firm will spend $500,000 to purchase an extrusion and blow molding machine later this year. PlasCor employs 60 at its 70,000 square foot plant.
Director of sales Lonnie Stefan said PlasCor had sales of about $6 million in 1996 but expects sales of between $8 million and $9 million in 1997.
The company also claims to be using a new method to decrease both the cycle time and cost of PVC and polyethylene bottles.
