R. Dray Mfg. Inc. of Texas is boosting production of injection screws and related components at its Hamilton, Texas, plant.
Founder and President Robert Dray Sr. said the firm recently received its largest single order, from an undisclosed automotive original equipment manufacturer, to furnish new equipment and reconfigure injection presses. The contract involves his patented technology for injection molding press repeatability, related patents and patents pending, Dray said in a telephone interview from his firm's Dallas head office. R. Dray Mfg. also is supplying new technology to an undisclosed injection press maker.
R. Dray Mfg. installed more computer numerically controlled and auxiliary equipment in Hamilton last month to supply the new order and other new business. It is looking for additional manufacturing and inventory space in the North to be closer to automotive manufacturers. Dray did not reveal how much his firm is investing in expansion, or the size of the new order.
Dray founded Feed Screws Inc. of New Castle, Pa., and sold it in 1973. The company now is known as New Castle Industries Inc. He started R. Dray Mfg. Inc. in 1973 and affiliate R. Dray Mfg. Inc. of Texas in 1981.
Dray said he holds nine U.S. and foreign patents, including a barrier patent now widely used among U.S. machine manufacturers, and patents on nonreturn valves, shut-off nozzles and machine repeatability improvements.
