ALDILA INC. — Jon B. DeVault joined the San Diego maker of graphite golf shafts and polyacrylonitrile carbon fibers as a director, and as president of subsidiary Aldila Materials Technology Corp. He had been vice president of strategic planning and business development at Fiberite Inc. Thomas A. Brand, a consultant to the advanced materials industry, was named a director.
AMERICAN NATIONAL CAN CO.— Gillian Derbyshire was named vice president and general manager of plastic bottles of the Chicago-based blow molder and film extruder.
ANCHOR PACKAGING — The St. Louis thermoformer named Satya N. Garg vice president of product development and Jonathan S. Cage marketing manager.
BALL CORP.—Martin A. Ruffalo was named vice president of sales for plastic and metal carbonated soft drink container operations for the Muncie, Ind., firm. He had been director of sales.
BRITISH POLYTHENE INDUSTRIES PLC — The Greenock, Scotland-based polyethylene film extruder named Jack Paton managing director of BPI's polythene unit, effective Jan. 1. He was chief executive of the industrial division. Reporting to Paton, also as of Jan. 1, are five chief executives for the industrial division: Mike Bulman, films; John Bunnell, retail; Gunter Eikholt, industrial products; Alan Keizer, small industrial businesses; and Tony Langford, recycled products. BPI's current managing director for films, Keith Stenning, will be director of group resources to the PE business.
BRITTON GROUP PLC — The London-based plastics and carton packaging producer appointed William Bishop financial controller of its plastics division.
BUDD CO. — Nancy Hutcheson was named corporate vice president, general counsel and secretary. She had been deputy general counsel and assistant secretary of the Troy, Mich., auto parts firm.
COMPOSITE STRUCTURES INTERNATIONAL INC. — Dennis C. Wolf Sr. was named president of the Dallas-based maker of fiberglass-reinforced plastic products. He had been vice president of sales and marketing for the company. Wolf replaces Stanley Burson, who CSI said is leaving to pursue a personal business venture.
CONNOR CORP. — Thomas Cain was named executive vice president and chief operating officer for the Fort Wayne, Ind., custom injection molder. He had been vice president of manufacturing.
C-P CONVERTERS INC. — The York, Pa.-based plastic film converter named Rick Sullivan vice president of sales.
FIELDING MANUFACTURING — The Cranston, R.I.-based injection molder and mold maker named Carl Pallister vice president of sales engineering for its injection molding plant in Providence, R.I., Peter Girouard sales coordinator of the marketing department and Paul Chauvin sales engineering manager. Pallister also retains his post as vice president of the miniature zinc die-casting unit.
GE PLASTICS—Golnar Motahari was named European automotive marketing director based in Bergen-op-Zoom, the Netherlands. She had been product manager for high-performance plastics and thermoplastic elastomers.
INSTA-BULK INC. — Jeff Casida was named vice president of sales for the Houston bulk liner manufacturing company.
MARKO FOAM PRODUCTS INC. — Tyson J. Peterson was named president and chief executive officer of the Corona, Calif., maker of cushion packaging. Tyson Peterson succeeds his father, Donald Peterson, who will continue as chairman.
PENDA CORP. — Jeffrey G. Rastocan was named vice president of sales and marketing for the Portage, Wis., thermoformer.
PLASTICS GROUP — The Chicago-based group comprising Pawnee Rotational Molding Co. and Borse Industries Inc. named Brian C. Beth president and chief executive officer. Beth retains his operating role at Borse and adds similar responsibilities at Pawnee. Pawnee's former president, Larry Paulson, left the firm in September and is now sales manager for Image Rotomolding LLC of Brainerd, Minn.
PLASTICS PIONEERS ASSOCIATION — The Greer, S.C.-based professional society for industry leaders appointed new officers for the 1997-99 term: Ellis Bignell, a consultant for Handy & Harman Manufacturing Corp., president; John Hull, vice chairman of Hull Corp., vice president; John Kretzschmar, president of S&K Sales/Consultants, secretary; and Paul Colby, chief executive officer of Spirex Corp., treasurer.
POLYPIPE PLC—The Doncaster, England-based plastic pipe and profiles extruder named production director Mike Hardy as its new managing director. Current director Kevin McDonald will concentrate on his role as chairman. Paul Rice was named marketing director.
SMITHS INDUSTRIES PLC—Robert W. O'Leary was named a director of the London-based disposable plastic surgical and medical device maker. O'Leary, an American and the firm's first non-British director, is chairman and chief executive officer of health-care purchasing and services firm Premier Inc. of San Diego.
SOCIETY OF THE PLASTICS INDUSTRY INC.—SPI's Spray Polyurethane Division in Washington promoted its director, Dan Benedict, to executive director.
THOGUS PRODUCTS — Kathleen Hlavin, senior executive vice president, was named president of the Avon Lake, Ohio, injection molder, succeeding her father, the late John P. Thompson. She retains her position as an owner. The firm also named Walt Gus executive vice president, Jeff Westfall vice president of sales and marketing, Dave Winters vice president of operations and purchasing, and Beverly Willis director of special projects and quality service.
WHITE CAP INC. — Dane Tyson was named president of the newly formed White Cap Americas division of the maker of plastic closures and caps in Downer's Grove, Ill. Tyson, who will oversee operations in North, Central and South America, had been president of White Cap International. White Cap is a subsidiary of packaging giant Schmalbach-Lubeca AG of Ratingen, Germany.
