CLEVELAND — Pressco Technology Inc., which expanded into the PET container inspection equipment market in 1996, has purchased part of LumenX Co., which supplies camera-inspection equipment.
Cleveland-based Pressco announced Sept. 15 that it bought assets of the machine vision technology from LumenX of Mogadore, Ohio. Terms were not disclosed.
Machine vision refers to equipment that uses a camera to check containers as they speed down a production line. LumenX, a unit of Alltrista Corp. of Muncie, Ind., supplies such equipment to glass and metal container markets.
The acquisition included only the machine vision assets. LumenX will continue to manufacture X-ray inspection equipment.
Pressco also serves glass and metal container markets. In 1996, the firm added equipment for PET containers by acquiring Intelligent Inspection Systems of West Palm Beach, Fla. Pressco merged the Florida operation into its Cleveland headquarters this year.
