TORONTO — Royal Group Technologies Ltd. said Nov. 3 it received approval from BOCA Evaluation Services Inc. for the modular housing system it calls the Royal Building System.
The approval allows builders in the northeastern and north central United States to construct residential, commercial, industrial and institutional buildings using the system. Its system is based on extruded vinyl panels and posts that can be filled with concrete during construction.
BOCA, the Building Officials and Code Administrators International association, is based in Country Club Hills, Ill.
Toronto-based Royal already has received approvals from more than 25 other countries, including Canada and Japan.
Royal announced separately it has completed a secondary offering of shares in the United States and Canada. It sold 2.8 million shares for US$26.375 per share. Underwriters also had an option to purchase another 525,000 to cover over-allotments.
Salomon Bros. Inc. of New York led the underwriting.
