CROWN CORK & SEAL CO. INC. —The Philadelphia-based blow molder named Thomas J. Dunleavy president of its beauty care packaging subsidiary, Risdon-AMS, and vice president of the company's Americas division. He had been the firm's executive vice president of operations for the past two years.
DSM ENGINEERING PLASTIC PRODUCTS INC. — Glen Steady was named president and chief executive officer of the North American division of the Reading, Pa., injection molder. He had been vice president of industrial business at DSM Copolymer in Louisiana. Steady replaced Jerry Thurston, who retired after 12 years with the company.
ECHLIN INC. — The Branford, Conn., automotive parts manufacturer named Douglas J. Grimm vice president of worldwide strategic sourcing, a newly created position. He had been director of purchasing since 1996.
FOAMEX INTERNATIONAL INC. — The Linwood, Pa., manufacturer of flexible polyurethane and advanced polymer products announced several management changes. Phil Allen, vice president of sales at the firm's General Felt Industries Inc. subsidiary, was named Foamex's executive vice president of carpet cushion products and was appointed to the firm's operating committee. These positions had been held by Terry J. Kall, who will remain president of General Felt and be responsible for all carpet cushion national accounts. R.V. Linn, who had been president and CEO of Crain Industries Inc. prior to its acquisition by Foamex, also has been named to Foamex's operating committee. John McAlister, former executive vice president of Crain, was named executive vice president of Foamex's newly created consumer products unit. Jim Hutchins, former vice president of sales and marketing for Crain's consumer products division, will have the same position at Foamex.
KERN FOAM PRODUCTS CORP. — J. Eldon Hall was named plant manager of the South Plainfield, N.J., company.
QDC PLASTIC CONTAINER CO. — The Lansing, Mich.-based blow molder of standard and custom plastic bottles promoted operations manager Ken David to general manager.
QUAKER PLASTIC CORP. — The Mountville, Pa., thermoformer and extruder named Thomas Dreisbach national sales manager of swimming pool products.
SINCLAIR & RUSH INC. — The St. Louis-based manufacturer of plastic molded and extruded products promoted Executive Vice President Bradley G. Stack to president and chief operating officer. Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Gary F. Sahrmann was promoted to executive vice president and CFO.
Howard M. Kibbel, long-time market research analyst for the SOCIETY OF THE PLASTICS INDUSTRY INC. in New York, died Jan. 2, following a long battle with cancer. ... Richard Pignataro was named president and CEO of LANDEGGER INDUSTRIES INC., a New York-based manufacturer of products and services to the paper, plastic film converting and corrugated box making industries. He joins the firm from Eastman Kodak, where he had been president of Kodak Professional. ... Jack LaCovey joins Washington-based APC as director of media and policy communications, replacing Susan Dorn, who took a similar position with the Washington-based Flexible Packaging Association. LaCovey had been SPI communications director. Jennifer Dills takes his place at Washington-based SPI. She had been SPI's communications manager. Also at APC, Mary Anne Hansan has been named director of advertising and new media, replacing Bailey Condrey. She most recently was vice president of marketing with the Society of American Florists. David Janoff has been named APC's associate director of consumer communications. He had been director of marketing and communications for the National Association of the Remodeling Industry. ...
