STE. MARIE DE BEAUCE, QUEBEC — Plastic bathware producer Maax Inc. plans to diversify into U.S. production of shower doors and medicine cabinets by acquiring the assets of KSD Industries Inc. of Southampton, Pa.
Ste. Marie de Beauce-based Maax expects to finalize the deal Feb. 28. KSD's two plants have 93,600 square feet, and the firm has a distribution center in Lakewood, N.J. Maax predicts KSD will add about US$31 million to Maax's sales for the next fiscal year.
Placide Poulin, Maax president and chief executive officer, said KSD uses glass and aluminum but not plastics in its operations. The deal will round out Maax's U.S. product line and strengthen its sales operations, he said.
