RPC Group plc is planning about £20 million ($32.8 million) in capital improvements this year.
The Raunds, England, firm took Europe's top rigid packaging molding spot after buying Schmalbach-Lubeca's non-PET plastics business, Continental Plastics Europe.
During the second half of the year, RPC will spend about £8 million ($13.1 million) on molding equipment and warehouse space.
RPC already has installed an OMV thermoforming machine at its Bebo Plastik plant in Bremervorde, Germany, and doubled the size of its Poznaon, Poland, thermoforming facility.
The company also bought an Illig thermoforming machine for its RPC Tedeco plant at Deventer, Netherlands, where it makes disposable cups. A third cup-forming line is being added at its Tedeco plant in Kajarpec, Hungary.
RPC said it is introducing injection blow molding technology at CPE's Bramloge, Germany, plant to produce in house its line of double-wall jars.
The Kutenholz, Germany, CPE plant is getting a Bekum 704D high-output blow molding machine.
Warehouse space will be added at the Kutenholz and Corby, England, plants. RPC developed multilayer barrier bottle technology in Corby. The technology is being used at its Oevel, Belgium, facility.
RPC also plans to add capacity at its Blackburn, England, molding plant for its wide-mouth PET containers and is installing a class 100,000 clean room at its Market Rasen, England, facility.
