CHICAGO — BP America PlasTec, a plastics processing division of BP America Chemicals Co., has begun operations in Charlotte, N.C.
The 38,000-square-foot building, which opened in October, houses five blow molding machines and one injection press and 25 employees. The firm serves the appliance industry and water feeding systems for dishwashers with customers such as Whirlpool and Frigidaire, as well as the lawn and garden market.
``Our customers are spreading globally and we are following them, bringing our products closer to them,'' Adam Krusche, general manager and sales manager at BP America PlasTec, said in an interview at the National Design and Engineering Show, held March 16-19 in Chicago.
The firm boasts of having a unique blow molding technology in the United States in which rounded parts are molded and maintain uniform wall thickness.
BP America PlasTec also does custom designs of high-tech blow molded parts from polypropylene, polyethylene and engineering resins.
