A Cookson Group plc subsidiary has centralized managerial functions and consolidated seven former operating units into four divisions.
The newly named subsidiary, Cookson Plastic Molding Corp., employs about 1,000 and is based in Latham, N.Y.
Divisions include separate materials-handling units for the United States and Europe, and other divisions for recreational products and custom molding.
The subsidiary had divested horticultural and distribution businesses in December and, until a March 13 announcement, was known as Cookson Specialty Molding Group.
The remaining operations make structural foam pallets for the materials-handling industry and custom molded products for residential swimming pool and contract manufacturing markets.
Bruce Quay, former recreational products division president, was named executive vice president of business units, a new position. John Kourouglos, president of Cookson Pigments Inc., was appointed executive vice president of worldwide operations.
The materials-handling divisions mold plastic pallets and other products in Latham; Mora, Minn.; Atlanta; and Essex, England.
The operations previously were known as the EPC/Loudon materials-handling division in the United States and Cookson Plastics (Europe) Ltd. in Europe.
The Latham-based EPC/Loudon custom molding division will retain its identity and continue to mold large plastic parts in the Mora facility.
The recreational products division continues operations of Pacific Industries, a producer of in-ground pools, vinyl liners and walk-in pool steps; Technician Pacific, a manufacturer and distributor of pool products in Canada; and Performance Pool Products, a private-label pool products supplier.
Pacific Industries and Performance Pool Products are based in Latham.
London-based parent company Cookson Group plc has annual sales of $2.8 billion.
