Australian firms found recycling association
SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA—Several plastics packaging firms are included in a new group set up to encourage Australian companies to buy recycled products and materials.
Founding partners in the Sydney-based Australian Buy Recycled Business Alliance include Southcorp Holdings Pty. Ltd. of Adelaide; Visy Industries Pty. Ltd. of Melbourne; and Sydney-based Coca-Cola Amatil Ltd., a unit of Atlanta-based Coca-Cola Co.
Erica Power, ABRBA executive officer, said Australian businesses started the organization to avoid possible government legislation on recycling. While ABRBA does not dictate that organizations must buy a certain percent of recycled material, it offers recycling education, advice on implementing a buy-recycled policy, and recycled product listings.
