Wayne System tests polymer pressure
Wayne Machine & Die Co. is marketing a new system for easy pressure testing of polymers and compounds.
A precision gear pump with a digital drive meters melted material through special ``dutch weave'' type screens. By using the same-mesh screens on each test, the system can compare pressure levels to determine if the flow is the same. The company is based in Totowa, N.J.

Comet introduces weigh blender, dryer
Comet Automation Systems Inc. introduced a new weigh blender and a weigh dryer.
The Exact-A-Batch gravimetric blender uses two load cells, first metering each ingredient into a scale hopper and accumulated into a batch, which gets dumped into a stainless-steel mix chamber.
Pinch valves dispense material into the scale. Comet said pinch valves eliminate problems like wear and jamming that can happen with slide gates and auger-driven units. The Dayton, Ohio, firm said the blender achieves accuracy of 0.1 percent. Priced at $9,000, it can be used for central or individual blending.
The Sensi-Dry Weigh Dryer mounts the hopper onto a load cell that senses the weight of the hopper and its contents. Based on weight readings, an Allen-Bradley controller determines the rate at which material is being removed from the hopper.
