AKRON, OHIO — Plastics News has named J.A. Lewellen to a new position, manager of Web and research projects.
Lewellen, 30, picks up responsibility for managing sales and marketing initiatives for Plastics News on the Web (www.plasticsnews. com), general maintenance of the Web site, and oversight of internally and externally driven research. He will work out of the newspaper's Akron headquarters office.
``We're delighted to add someone to our staff who combines Lewellen's knowledge of the plastics market, his technical skills, and his familiarity with the Web,'' said marketing manager Linda Whelan.
``The Web is growing in importance as a resource for the plastics industry, and Plastics News expects to bolster its already-active presence online,'' she said.
Lewellen had worked from Crain Communications Inc.'s Detroit circulation office since 1994, including duties as PN's circulation coordinator, and more recently circulation manager.
Lewellen is a 1990 graduate of Alma College in Alma, Mich., with bachelor's degrees in political science and business. Prior to his work at Crain, he was employed by Wolverine Mutual Insurance Co. as a claims representative, and then by Standard Rate and Data Services in Chicago as a circulation and advertising sales representative.
