PAINESVILLE, OHIO — PET Processors LLC is putting a greater focus on its PET recycling business.
``I hate to say it, but there is less focus on the virgin bottle resin [business],'' said Gregg Fenton, operations manager for Prime Recycled PET, the division for recycled materials.
The recycling division concentrates on batch solid-state polymerization of polyester and other resins. It does not wash or grind, but keeps increasing its repelletizing.
``It just isn't virgin. If you don't need food-grade, this is very consistent,'' he said, noting that the recycling business makes a steady contribution to sales.
PET Processors can reprocess more than 20 million pounds a year. Its business is 60 percent post-consumer and 40 percent post-industrial.
The company said it has an ISO 9002-certified plant in Dumfries, Scotland, and is progressing toward certification in Ohio.
