MIDLAND, MICH. — Dow Chemical Co. plans to open a technical support center in Singapore by the end of the year to provide telephone assistance to the company's polyethylene customers.
The Singapore center could have as many as four technical experts available, PE customer support specialist Sharon Baker said in a recent interview at Dow headquarters in Midland. The new site will join similar offices that opened in Freeport, Texas, in 1995 and Tarragona, Spain, in 1997.
The service provides technical data and application advice as well as addressing quality issues and overall troubleshooting, according to Baker.
Dow statistics show the service is gaining in popularity. The Freeport site fielded almost 1,100 calls in its first six months of operation in 1995. The Freeport and Tarragona offices combined to handle 4,600 calls last year.
