CLEVELAND—Custom molder GI Plastek has purchased its largest-tonnage injection press ever, a 3,300-ton Mitsubishi machine for its Marysville, Ohio, factory.
GI Plastek's biggest press up until now is a 1,600-ton machine, said Tim Fisher, sales manager. The company expects to begin molding parts on the 3,300-tonner in September, Fisher said at GI Plastek's booth at Plastics Fair Cleveland, held June 23-25 in Cleveland.
The Elyria, Ohio-based molder will make construction and industrial parts on the big press. The machine can mold parts with a 1,100-ounce shot size.
GI Plastek runs injection molding factories in Marysville and Bellville, Ohio. The company also operates a Marysville finishing and assembly plant and a reaction injection molding plant in Newburyport, Mass.
