MIDDLEBURG HEIGHTS, OHIO — Sandretto USA Inc. recently delivered two injection molding machines to high-visibility locations: GE Plastics' Process Development Center and Conair Group's new technical center.
Sandretto delivered its first Mega HCS injection press to a U.S. site, as the company shipped a 1,760-ton machine to GE Plastics' PDC in Pittsfield, Mass.
GE Plastics will use the machine for thin-wall molding applications. The company took delivery of the hydromechanical press April 1.
Sandretto said the Mega HCS presses, in clamping forces of 1,430-2,400 tons, are an outgrowth of the Mega H series. Compared with the H presses, HCS machines are 30 percent smaller and have a lower center-line height.
A twin-ram design, with pistons mounted on the sides of the injection unit instead of in back of it, make the machines shorter.
Sandretto also placed a 325-ton Series Eight Advantage press on consignment at Conair's technical center at the company's new headquarters facility in Emsworth, Pa.
Sandretto said the machine is the largest injection press at Conair's tech center. Sandretto has loaned Conair a two-cavity mold for making acrylic picture frames.
According to Sandretto, Conair has agreed to give Sandretto access to the center for customer demonstrations.
Sandretto, based in Middleburg Heights, also said it has started offering its Mega T machines with wide platens as standard, instead of just optional, to customers in the United States and Canada. Sandretto cited strong demand from the automotive sector for larger platens and extended tie-bar spacing.
Sandretto is offering wide platens on Mega T presses as large as 1,100 tons. It is working on the wide platens on the 1,430 ton press, now available with square platens.
Sandretto also released additional details about the Mega TE Series, introduced at NPE 1997. The press is available in six models in clamping forces from 610-1,210 tons.
The Mega TE machine is a standard Mega press equipped with an electric screw motor drive. Mega TE machines, which are designed for the packaging industry, come with square platens as standard.
