SANTA BARBARA, CALIF. — John Carson, 74, founder of Carson Industries Inc. of Glendora, Calif., died in May of cancer.
Carson was a carrier-based naval aviator in World War II and continued as a civilian pilot for more than 50 years. During the last five years of his life, he flew his TBM Avenger bomber in air shows.
Carson pioneered the structural foam molding process on the West Coast. He retired in 1984. He and his wife, Joan, had resided in Santa Barbara since 1985. He is survived by his wife; son, Eric; daughters, Carey Carson-Karr and Kimberly; and six grandchildren.
