LONDON—Crain Communications Inc., publisher of Automotive News and Plastics News, said Sept. 8 it has acquired the United Kingdom-based publication Automotive International from Leading Edge Publishing, and will continue to develop it into a global business magazine.
Terms were undisclosed. The deal gives Crain 30 publications.
Crain plans to expand AI's circulation in the Asia-Pacific and Latin American regions, and reduce the Surrey, England-based monthly magazine's publishing frequency to six times a year. The first Crain-owned issue of AI will appear in November.
``Automotive International is the perfect platform for a thoroughly global publication,'' said Keith Crain, chairman of Crain Communications in Detroit.
``We have admired Automotive International, and it gives us a stable of publications that are edited specifically for the North American, European and now the global markets.''
Crain is publisher of Automotive News, Automotive News Europe and now Automotive International.
AI Editor Chris Wright will continue to lead that publication, and Peter Brown, associate publisher of Automotive News and AN Europe, also will be associate publisher and executive editor of Automotive International. AI will be based in the London office of Crain Communications Europe LLC.
