HARTLEPOOL, ENGLAND — British custom molder Stadium Group plc is expanding automotive part production with two new Arburg 50-ton injection presses at its plant at Newton Abbot, England.
Stadium Plastics (South West) Ltd.'s investment of $133,000 in the two horizontal machines adds capacity to manufacture smaller-sized, high-volume parts, including components for air-bag and safety restraint systems, alternators and starter motors.
That addition follows the purchase of four C-range Krauss Maffei presses last year.
Meanwhile, Stadium Plastics (North Eastern) Ltd. in Hartlepool recently invested $166,000 to install a gas-assisted injection molding system. The upgrade will allow the firm to fulfill several newly won component contracts, including molded handles for a new Black & Decker chainsaw.
Stadium of Hartlepool serves the automotive, electrical, consumer and business machine sectors. It reported profit of $5.14 million on sales of $55 million for the first six months of 1998.
