RED BANK, N.J. — William Landuyt, chairman and chief executive officer of Millennium Chemicals Inc. of Red Bank, was chosen to receive the 1998 Kavaler Award, a top chemical industry honor for executive achievement.
Landuyt was chosen by a committee made up of leading chemical investment research analysts as being the chemical CEO who ``by his vision, integrity and management skills, made the most unique contribution to the growth and success of his company.''
The analysts praised Landuyt for his willingness to push the envelope on cost reduction and for his role in the formation of Equistar Chemicals LP, a joint venture with Lyondell Petrochemical Co. and Occidental Chemical Corp.
Landuyt will be presented with the award at the ChemEvent 98 Chief Executive Award Luncheon, to be held in late October at the Chemist's Club in New York.
The Kavaler Award is sponsored as a service to the chemical industry by Schnell Publishing Co., the New York-based publisher of the weekly Chemical Market Reporter.
