FLORENCE, KY. — Compounding extruder supplier Berstorff Corp. has named a new North American sales manager and a head of engineering.
Anthony Futia will lead Berstorff's national sales organization as Plastics Division sales manager for North America. He held sales and marketing positions at Buss (America) Inc. and Werner & Pfleiderer, now Krupp Werner & Pfleiderer. Futia will oversee regional sales offices in Texas and New Jersey and a new Southeast office in Charlotte, N.C.
Larry Reuss was named manager of engineering, with responsibility for the firm's U.S. design and manufacturing operation. He joins Berstorff from Cincinnati State College in Ohio, where he was an engineering instructor in a curriculum that included plastics. Before that, he was a manufacturing engineer for General Electric Co.'s Aircraft Engines unit.
Earlier this year, Berstorff moved from Charlotte to the Florence site of sister Krauss-Maffei Corp. Both firms are owned by Mannesmann Plastics Machinery AG of Germany.
Gene Stroup, formerly Berstorff's vice president of standard products, will remain in Charlotte as national accounts manager.
Berstorff is a unit of Hermann Berstorff Maschinenbau GmbH of Hanover, Germany. Hermann Berstorff on Aug. 26 announced a restructuring of its sales and marketing organization that established seven product lines, each with its own manager. They are twin- and single-screw plastics extruders, foamed polymer extruders, machinery for making rubber parts, tire production machinery and rotating machinery systems.
