CHICAGO — Rocheleau Tool & Die Co. Inc., a Fitchburg, Mass.-based maker of extrusion blow molding machinery, has expanded its manufacturing space.
The 60-year-old, family-owned company now occupies 32,000 square feet and employs about 20. It completed the expansion in August.
``We can develop more machines, and the blow molding equipment is getting larger,'' said engineer Jeffrey Rocheleau. ``We also have more testing.''
Most of the firm's blow molding machines are for start-up ventures, and many are purchased by companies in Mexico or the Caribbean. Many of the machines are used in the medical or dairy industries. In addition, Rocheleau can accommodate custom molds.
``We have had an increase in business from people who still appreciate a small, independent blow molding company,'' sales representative Steven Rocheleau said at Plastics USA in Chicago.
Rocheleau has more than 1,000 machines worldwide and annual sales of about $5 million.
