HONG KONG — The Asian arm of Swiss publishing and printing giant Ringier AG is launching a plastics business magazine for China this month, and will fill it partly with editorial content licensed from Plastics News.
Ringier Trade Publishing Ltd. of Hong Kong is introducing the Chinese-language monthly publication, International Plastics News for China, at two late-October trade shows — the Chengdu International Plastics and Packaging Exhibition in Chengdu, China, and K'98 in Dusseldorf, Germany.
The magazine, devoted exclusively to the plastics processing industry, will have a controlled circulation of 25,000, mostly on the mainland, but with some circulation in Hong Kong and Taiwan, said Mike Hay, publisher.
It aims to provide senior executives with information on global equipment, materials and technology trends, practical information that can be applied locally, and news about legislation, trade and export markets, Hay said. To that end, Ringier will license and translate into Chinese as many as six pages of editorial content per issue from Plastics News.
Hay said Ringier last month also launched International Packaging News for China, and plans to introduce several more vertical-industry publications in that market in the coming years. The Swiss company has annual sales of about $1 billion and employs nearly 6,000 worldwide.
