DUSSELDORF, GERMANY — Stack molds took center stage at Husky Injection Molding Systems Ltd.'s K'98 booth.
Husky demonstrated thin-wall molding on a 500-ton G-series machine equipped with a two-by-four-cavity stack container mold. Cycle times for the hot-runner mold were less than 31/2 seconds. The system included stacking and boxing equipment.
Husky also ran a 900-ton press with a stack mold carrier system and a new, dual Moduline Top-Entry Inline robot. The press molded round polypropylene lids.
A 90-ton Index machine cranked out PET preforms for 11/2-liter mineral water bottles on a nine-second cycle. Preforms were blown into bottles on a Sidel blow molding machine, next door to the Husky booth.
